 Left In The Dark
« Thread Started on Jan 29, 2007, 11:44pm »

Azuma sat a bit a ways from the river, staring at it as if staring that this river would cause his memory to come back to him. He glanced around but didn’t see anyone nearby, he was alone. He always felt alone even if there were many people around he couldn’t help the feeling. Now though he would try to recover his forgotten past but each time he tried, his head would ache, in fact that was what was starting to happen right now. Another headache brought on by trying to figure out his lost past.

He had to stop concentrating so hard and rub his forehead with his hand, trying to relieve the pain. “Can’t remember anything” Azuma muttered angrily to himself. With his free hand, he clutched onto the gold tag gently rubbing the surface. “Azuma…that name…could it really belong to me? It has to be, if not why would it be around my neck? Who put it there? And why can’t I remember anything?” The good thing about asking questions to himself didn’t make his headache like trying to recover his past but the more questions he asked the more he wanted to know the answers to.

Since the headache went away he removed his hand from his forehead and let go of the gold tag which made a small jingle sound as it hit up against his skin. Just than he got some hope and smiled “m-maybe someone around here knows of me…maybe it’s that simple! All I have to do is-” the headache returned which was very odd since it only came around when he tried to think of his past. The headache went away just as quick as it came but the new found hope was gone and he couldn’t remember what he had been thinking about.

“That’s weird” he muttered as he looked from side to side, he remembered being in this spot before his brief memory loss. Azuma let out a sigh, whatever he had been thinking of was gone now. He thought about leaving this spot but he kind of enjoyed watching the river and he didn’t want to leave just yet, Azuma was afraid that he would forget this spot if he left. “I’ll spend the night here, maybe in the morning I will have my memory back” he doubted that, every night he said this and every day he would wake up the same, no memory of his past just memory of what had happened yesterday.

The sky was getting darker and darker by the minute, it was strange because here the dark just seemed different. It was hard to explain but he was sure that he had been around here before. Azuma laid on the ground, looking up at the sky instead of the river. He was getting tired, tired of searching for answers and never ever coming close to finding a lead.

[ooc][I was gonna reply to your post straight away, but I'd thought I'd ive someone else a chance; seeing as no one has taken it..]

Nisha walked with her head hanging, her eye's, a silvery blue, concentrating dully on the ground before her. Inside her mind streams of thought swirled in a tangled mess of memories, opinions and emotion. Few of these intertwined streams forced themselves more known then others; unfortunately, these were the worst of her memories, more then anything else.

Melancholy seen swept over her, and she could feel her fists clench in attempt to block out the tears forming in her eyes. She closed her eyes tightly, tuned out completely from the world around her, and cried out in pain loudly. Nisha's eyes snapped open, and she looked about herself in somewhat confusion. She looked at the sky quickly. It was slowly getting dark. This didn't bother her so much; as long as the full moon didn't rise to fill the land with rays of light. She loved the night otherwise.

With a slight sigh she looked around her. She seemed to be near a river, she stared at it thoughtfully. With somewhat curiosity, and hesitation, Nisha walked to it's edge, peering into it's inviting depths.

(Thanks for posting ^.^ as you can see I kind of had a muse and went with it lol. Yeah I have a strange imagination lol.)

Azuma sat straight up when he thought he heard someone let out a cry of pain, at first he thought he had imagined it but it was loud enough to make him re-think this and decide to check it out. His heart was racing as he stood to his feet, getting up almost too fast since he almost fell down again. He wasn’t sure why his heart was beating fast, he wasn’t in any danger maybe it was because he was a bit worried that the one who cried in pain was in danger and needed help.

He panted loudly as he ran in the direction he thought he heard the cry. Azuma’s legs didn’t seem to take him to where he needed to be fast enough and this had to be the only time that he wished that he was in his wolf form so he could get there much faster. He became exhausted as he tried to pick up speed but only to get himself even more tired, it wasn’t long before he had to slow down to a fast walk even then he got tired. Azuma couldn’t run or even fast walk much less take one more step, he leaned over gripping onto his stomach and panting hard, he near understood why he got so weak just some running a little ways. His face twisted in pain and his thoughts raced but they weren’t about his own well being they were about the person who cried out.

“D-damn it” Azuma gasped out. He knew now he wouldn’t be able to come to the persons rescue, he had gone through his exhausted state before and it was always painful and caused him to become very weak. He hated this, it was bad enough he went through this every now and then but not when he had to save someone, that person could now be dead because he was unable to get there.

The pain was starting to be too much for him, he couldn’t stand any longer and fell to the ground, handing hard on his kneecaps. Azuma screamed out, growling almost at how much pain he was in he shouldn’t be like this, he is a werewolf and they are suppose to be able to withstand pain. All Azuma had done to bring this back on was run, sometimes he didn’t even have to do that it just came and went.

He still clutched onto his stomach, Azuma feared the pain would get the better of him and cause him to pass out but he was fighting it. His knees started to feel like rudder and he was having a hard time remaining there so he just gave up and fell all the way to the ground. His eyes shut tightly and he began to growl while he shook non-stop, hopefully though the pain will go away it always did but it took time like everything else.

Nisha's body stiffened as the silence that hung over her pointed ears was broken sharply. She twisted herself instinctively in the direction of the sound, and for a long hesitant moment it appeared as if she was going to bolt; like a frightened deer unsure of how to react.

Sound didn't necessarily mean a person, she told herself reassuringly, but the thought slipped as she forced herself into realisation that it had a human-ish edge to it. Thoughts slipped in and out of her mind, racing as her adrenaline surged; her whole body urging her to run in the opposite direction. With a bit of self encouragement, she stood shakily and, forcing herself out of hesitating, moved towards the sound instead.

Preparing herself for the company of another as she walked, somewhat hastily, to find the source of sound. It was not in her nature to investigate; but it was also not within her nature to leave someone helpless, and she might have said that the sound had seemed that of one in need of assistance. As she walked she could hear the presence, and abruptly she stopped; again her body urging her to run away.

With the utmost cautiousness about her, she approached the sound; the being, crouching somewhat near it, keeping a distance between her. With some curiosity, she leaned a slight bit closer... he seemed to be in pain.

Azuma thought he had imagined hearing someone slowly approach him but he thought it was nothing. He remained on the ground, shaking and waiting for the pain to pass. It seemed forever before the pain stopped and he was able to sit up. He let out a sigh of relief and wiped some sweat that formed on his forehead away and took time to relax. “God, I hate it when that happens” he muttered as he ran a hand down the back of his sore neck his collar bounced against his hand, his entire body ached but he ignored it as much as he possibly could.

He hadn’t even noticed anyone else was there if he was in his wolf form yes but he didn’t have high senses in normal human form. Azuma got a strange feeling of being watched though and looked around, when he saw a girl standing there he looked like of stunned. He blinked away his stunned expression and smiled a little at the girl, he was very embarrassed because he didn’t know just how long she had been there.

“Um, I didn’t see you there” he finally told her while he quickly wiped away new forming sweat from his forehead. “H-how long have you been standing there?” He really did fear the answer because he hates it when he becomes so weak like. Maybe it was because most guys hate the feeling of being weak, that had to be why but if she had been there long enough to see him like that he wouldn’t attack her. Azuma would never attack anyone, he just wasn’t like that for some strange reason.

It didn't seem as if Nisha's presence was noted right away, although she was thankful for that; she didn't really want to socialise, not that she did ever, but now less then not. Nervously her hands went to her the stray strands of black hair that fell over her face, intertwining her fingers with them; it was all that she could do to prevent herself from rushing away in a frightened manner. Inside, proper behaviour more then anything forced her to stay put, to see if the stranger was alright first.

It wasn't long until she was noticed, and she felt herself flinch; it was more her body trying to run and her stopping it abruptly. For a moment it would've appeared as if she hadn't heard his words. She didn't know how to answer, she felt herself flush red slightly and she cast her eyes to the ground, embarrassed of her actions.

'A while' She mumbled almost to herself, although it was in answer to the question.

Azuma could just barely hear the girl at first he got a bit anger and kind of embarrassed because she must have seen him weak like that but once he saw her staring down at the ground and looking embarrassed herself, he just sighed without saying a word. He stared at stand up, making sure he wouldn’t fall back down on the ground. Azuma didn’t speak to her until he was on his feet and balanced, he then started to walk toward her. “Um, it’s okay” he didn’t know what else to say to make her feel better.

He stopped walking toward her, she didn’t look like she was feeling to well or maybe she was just scared of him. Azuma wasn’t sure just why she might be afraid of him though, maybe she knew what he was somehow.

He sighed again and glanced down at the ground, he just could tell she wasn’t conformable around him. “Sorry” he muttered an apology for her being frightened of him and he turned around and started to walk away. Again Azuma felt so alone, the first one he met in awhile and she was afraid of him, he was sort of used to this kind of thing though.

The stranger didn't seem to sure of how to approach her; as he did walk towards her, she felt to cower, although refused to. He seemed as if he didn't wish to frighten her off. Awful shy, as she was, she often drove people away, so she had gotten used to it. But instead, it seemed for a moment as if she waw to find one who would not.

Then he stopped to apologise, and walked away, in somewhat anguish. Nisha felt a pang of guilt for causing the stranger to feel upset, and to apologise for something that wasn't his fault. She felt herself freed from the presence of another, the feeling of freedom swept over her; a feeling she loved. She could run now, run without being rude, or followed. Instead she stood. Inside she was working up the courage to speak up.

''It's not your fault She called after him, her voice raised slightly, although she felt a sense of regret for raising her voice. 'You don't need to be sorry' She added, quieter.

Azuma stopped in his tracks when he heard what the girl said. For a while he didn’t turn to even face her just stared up ahead kind of confused in a way. “Maybe she really doesn’t know what I am…but if she doesn’t then why does she seem afraid of me?” He shrugged at this question and turn around, smiling. “Thank you” he didn’t know why he thanked her or why he has smiling for that matter he just couldn’t help it. It might have been because he was glad she didn’t know he was a werewolf, a monster is how he always thought of himself.

“I was wondering…why are you afraid of me? Did I do something to scare you?” He wanted to stop speaking, he wanted to take back these words but he had already spoke them and there was no taking them back now. Azuma looked the other way, he always had so many questions, no matter if they were his own past or for a total stranger and he was confused all the time and kind of scared. Being so alone, without any answers to his own history was the worst and he would give anything just to know of his past and to not be so alone anymore.

(Sorry about how short it is.)

Nisha felt herself flush at the question. She didn't mean to be scared, and she also didn't really want to answer the question; she herself often questioned why, but she never found an answer. It was just how she was. She shifted uncomfortably, looking at her boots with more interest then should be given.

Although she didn't know what to say, Nisha didn't want to stand there in awkward silence. She shrugged stiffly in answer, searching quickly for something to say that would change the subject. 'Are you ok?' she asked avoidantly; a pang of curiosity, and courtesy willing her to question. She held her hands behind her back, fiddling nervously with her fingers to prevent her from playing with her hair.

“Yeah I’m fine, no need to worry about me,” Azuma told her while he looked away so she won’t see him blush. He didn’t really have anyone worry about him at least not that he could remember so this was kind of new to him. “I uh I get that all the time and used to the pain by now” that wasn’t true, no matter how many times he went through that pain, he never got used to it, Azuma just lied so she wouldn’t worry about him.

Is she really worried about me though? Or…or am I just misinterpreting what she means?” It’s been so long since he had last talked to another person that he didn’t know much of anything at the moment, anything that had to do with talking and carrying a conversation that is.

Silence, it got quiet again and he spoke up. Azuma didn’t know just what else to say but he figured to tell her his name. He looked over at her “I’m Azuma,” it was than that he realized he wasn’t sure if that was his real name or not. “Least that is who I think am” he whispered this under his breath not wanting to tell this girl about his troubles.

(It's okay I've been kind of busy too.)

Nisha found his words somewhat confusing, the bear whisper falling on the edge of her pointed ears; as silent and wished to be unheard as they were. To not be sure of your own name, to her, would seem as if it would send one to question their own existence. She could not imagine herself if she didn't know her own name; or even be sure of her family. She wanted to sympathise, but brushed off the thought; it seemed as if Azuma did not wish for her to hear it, so she would be as is she didn't.

'I'm.. Nisha' She said hesitantly; it was all she could really think to say, but she thought it inappropriate knowledge. She realised she was fiddling with her hair, and again the reason of why she hated company found itself fresh in her mind. She was never any good at conversation. Feeling as though her legs would no longer hold her up, she sat down; as randomly brought on as that must've looked. She took a look about herself, out of habit mostly, before once again averting her eyes to the ground.

She looked up at him for a second, opening her mouth to say something; changing her mind she looked at the ground once again, cursing herself for her awkwardness.
